The establishment of Air Changan is jointly funded by Shaanxi Province and HNA Aviation during the critical construction era of the Silk Road Economic Belt. Air Changan was issued Air Carrier Certificate by CAAC Northwest Regional Administration on April 5, 2016, and completed its maiden flight on May 9, in the same year. Air Changan is based at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, operates 13 B737-800 aircrafts as the part of the fleet of 27 aircrafts. Air Changan is dedicated to constructing an air bridge between cities along the Belt and Road and fostering the interaction and diffusion of Chinese and Western cultures of the highest caliber. On December 8th, 2021, Liaoning Fangda Group officially acquired HNA Aviation Group, with Air Changan included, for a controlling stake.
